I worked as a home fashion textile designer and stylist for over 20 years in American companies. I have experience in overseas production processes and product promotion within the United States and internationally. During this time, I got married and had a child. I once ran a design studio in Times Square, Manhattan.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001.

In July 2013, SHARE Cancer Support, a support group for breast and gynecological cancer patients, rented a conference room, gathered Japanese breast cancer patients, and started holding support meetings, which led to the establishment of Japanese SHARE.

I retired from SHARE Cancer Support at the end of July 2022. With this, the parent organization SHARE Cancer Support stopped supporting gynecological cancer patients in Japan, part of Japanese SHARE's activities. Then, I decided to establish FLAT and continue helping patients.

Role at FLATjp:

As a patient advocate, my role is to utilize my experience living in the United States to specifically point out their problems when they need medical support and solutions that are unique to Japanese people, as seen from the patient's perspective, and to provide support and necessary education in Japanese.

Hope for FLATjp:

I want to hand over my work to the next generation as soon as possible.

I want to bring the distance between medical professionals and patients closer together.

Interest:  Analyzing human behavior, self-improvement, and listening to inspiring stories
