ABOUT FLAT

Hello everyone.

FLATjp is a non-profit organization based in New York City that supports the Japanese community.

When facing to unexpected accidents or illness , it is challenging for the Japanese patients and the caregivers to overcome the language barrier, obtain the necessary information, and understand the complicated medical insurance situation in the U.S.

In addition, with the aging of the Japanese population in the U.S., the number of seniors living in isolation is increasing yearly.

We take these issues seriously and endeavor to find concrete ways to support them. We offer health-related support programs and other services that help the Japanese community's needs. We hope to expand  programs and services in response to future requests.

If you are interested in our support programs, please join us anytime.

Our mission at FLAT is to support the health and quality of life of Japanese residents in the United States.

The current situation in the U.S. is that there are few medical professionals who speak Japanese, and there are challenges in understanding the medical disparities that people experience while living in the U.S., as well as the complex medical system that people encounter when they become ill or suffer an injury.

Aiming to alleviate these everyday problems that Japanese people experience in the U.S., Japanese-speaking medical professionals, patient advocates, and other specialists gather to share their skills, maintain a relationship without hierarchical relationships, and provide a forum for everyone to participate.
